Located in the westernmost part of Croatia, bordering Slovenia and Italy, Istria is the largest peninsula in Croatia.  It is criss-crossed by wine and olive oil mercantile routes. With its scenery, diverse cultural events as well as a delightful gastronomy and wine it is an ideal destination for many visitors, especially enthusiasts of hilly areas and the blue sea. Enjoy the cobbled streets and beautiful facades of picturesque medieval towns. Many places have been restored and will impress you with their heritage dating back to the peak of the Venetian Republic.

Day 1:  Departure from the USA on your overnight flight to Pula (Flights are not included

 

Day 2 - ARRIVAL PULA – POREC AREA: Arrival to Pula airport, meet with personal driver and transfer to resort in Porec area. Accommodation in All Inclusive resort. Rest of the day at leisure. Dinner with drinks at the resort. (AI)

 

DAY 3 - POREC AREA: After breakfast at the resort, meet with personal driver and transfer to Porec. After meet with local guide, enjoy guided tour of Porec including a visit to Euphrasian Basilica. The historical core of Poreč is abundant in unique cultural & historical monuments from the past. The Euphrasius Basilica complex, under UNESCO's protection, is among the most valuable Byzantine buildings in the world, and the beautiful mosaics it boasts are also renowned. Decamunus, the main old-town street featuring magnificent gothic palaces, is an inevitable place to take a walk. After free time in Porec, transfer back to resort for rest of the day. DAY 4 - POREC AREA / MOTOVUN / LIVADE / POREC AREA: After breakfast at the resort, free morning at leisure. Lunch with drinks at the resort. After lunch meet with personal driver and transfer to Motovun. You will meet with local guide for guided tour of Motovun including visit to Motovun city walls. Motovun is a city monument, an ancient Istrian town located on the top of 277 meter high hill, whose appearance today originates from the Middle Ages, from the 12th and 13 century. The setting is astonishingly gorgeous and a large part of its appeal is in the lost-in-time views over the verdant valley, with the town rising above it like something from a fairy tale. Motovun is surrounded with vineyards which are famous for great wines, Teran and Malvasia, while Motovun forest, which extends miles down the Mirna valley, habitats famous underground mushroom - white truffle. After free time for leisure in Motovun, short transfer to Livade for Truffle search demonstration including a visit to truffle shop and tasting. Transfer back to resort and rest of the day at leisure. Dinner with drinks at the resort. (AI)

 

DAY 5 - POREC AREA / PULA – BALE – POREC AREA: After breakfast at the resort, free morning at leisure. Lunch with drinks at the resort. After lunch, meet with personal driver and transfer to Bale for the olive oil tasting at the olive mill. Continue to Pula. Meet with local guide for guided tour of Pula including visit to Roman Amphitheatre. Welcome to the 3000 years of history! The history of Pula starts with the myth of the Argonauts and the search for the Golden Fleece. It was the home of the Histrians, the Romans and the Venetians. Once the central Austrian port, today it is the largest cultural and economic center of Istria. Various layers of history took part in the making of this unique town in which Roman temples defy baroque palaces, early Christian churches stand face to face to Austrian villas, and the remnants of mediaeval walls are cut through by antique town gates. After free time in Pula, transfer back to resort. Dinner with drinks at the resort. (AI)

 

 

DAY 6 - POREC AREA / ROVINJ / POREC AREA: After breakfast at the resort, meet with personal driver and transfer to Rovinj. Meet with local guide and guided tour of Rovinj. Some say it's the jewel in crown of Istria. You can visit it at any time of year, even on gloomy misty cold day in winter and it will keep shining. Once you step through the Balbi Arch and enter the old town, you will find yourselves in a different time dimension. All its lovely little streets will take you to the top of a small hill, where you will find the biggest and most significant monument in town - the church of St. Euphemia. This baroque building made in Venetian style was dedicated to the saint and martyr whose sarcophagus, according to a legend, was miraculously washed ashore somewhere around 800. Holiday of Saint Fuma takes place in the middle of September and is one of the most important and greatest spontaneous folk assembling in Istria. Free time for leisure and coffee. Transfer back to resort for the rest of the day at leisure. Lunch and dinner with drinks at the resort. (AI)

 

DAY 7 - POREC AREA FREE DAY or OTPRIONAL EXCURSION TO RIJEKA AND OPATIJA: After breakfast at the resort free day at leisure or you can take an Optional excursion to Rijeka and Opatija. Lunch and dinner with drinks at the resort. (AI)

 

DAY 8 - POREC AREA / GROZNJAN / MOMJAN / POREC AREA: After breakfast at the resort, free morning at leisure. Lunch with drinks at the resort. After lunch, meet with personal driver and transfer to Groznjan. Meet with local guide and guided tour of Groznjan. Grožnjan-Grisignana, a small Istrian town of great cultural significance not only in Croatia but also internationally, lives its summer months very intensely. Every year at the beginning of May, the little streets and squares of Grožnjan-Grisignana metamorphose and turn into a truly artistic beehive: it opens its summer music academies for young people, its artistic, dance and drama workshops and its peace activism workshops under the leadership of well-known experts and teachers and famous names from music, art and drama. During those few summer months Grožnjan-Grisignana lives and breathes art and the labyrinth of its little streets become one great stage on which are constantly interchanging the sounds of jazz and classical music, guitar and piano, violin and cello, drum and vibraphone. Free time for individual exploration and leisure. Continue to Momjan for wine tasting at the local winery. Transfer back to resort for the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner with drinks in resort. DAY 9 - POREC AREA / PULA DEPARTURE / U.S.A.: After breakfast at the resort, transfer to Pula airport for your flight back home. (Breakfast)
