Prepare for an extraordinary Icelandic adventure that commences in the vibrant heart of Reykjavík. Your journey unfolds as you stand before the monumental Hallgrímskirkja, its spire offering sweeping views of the city below. A visit to the distinguished Presidential Residence, Bessastaðir, immerses you in Iceland's historical tapestry. The futuristic Perlan beckons next, its observation deck delivering awe-inspiring vistas of Reykjavík's captivating surroundings. Venturing south, you'll traverse the landscape of Njál's Saga, where the dramatic sea cliffs of Dyrhólaey and Reynishverfi steal the show. Two of Iceland's most iconic waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, frame your path, set against the backdrop of the Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull volcanoes. Dive into Iceland's volcanic heritage at the immersive lava center. Returning to Reykjavík, follow the enchanting Golden Circle. Witness the raw power of Gullfoss waterfall, the spouting hot springs of Geysir, and the historical Þingvellir national park, where the Viking parliament's legacy spans a millennium. The expedition continues with a visit to Friðheimar Greenhouses, a hub of tomato cultivation, followed by a delightful encounter with the enchanting Friðheimar Icelandic horses. On your final day, the choice is yours: explore Reykjavík at your own pace or opt for an excursion to the rejuvenating Blue Lagoon. This Icelandic odyssey promises a rich tapestry of natural wonders, historical insights, and cultural encounters, etching lasting memories into your travel story.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Monday April 15, 2024 - Departure from the USA: Get ready for an exciting adventure as you depart from the New York area (NYC) and embark on your journey to Iceland.

Day 2: Tuesday April 16, 2024 – Iceland: Upon arrival, proceed through customs and collect your luggage. A Jet Vacations professional guide will personally greet you. Departure for a panoramic tour of Reykjavík. Begin at Hallgrímskirkja, an iconic church with stunning city views. See the Old Harbour, taking in Harpa Concert Hall's modern architecture. Discover the Presidential Residence, Bessastaðir, and the futuristic Perlan. Then transfer by deluxe coach to your hotel centrally located in Reykjavik. Enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel and overnight in Reykjavík (Dinner)

Day 3 Thursday April 17, 2024 – Iceland: After breakfast at the hotel. Today, take a journey through the stunning landscape of Iceland‘s south coast. This is the land of Njál‘s Saga – a region of breathtaking scenery and legendary stories. During your guided tour you‘ll encounter the wonderful variety of the south: from the wide plains formed by glacial rivers, to the sheer sea cliffs of Dyrhólaey or Reynishverfi, and to the spectacular waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. In clear weather you’ll experience unforgettable views of the Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull volcanoes and, if the conditions are right, the Westman Islands. Included in your tour: Lava Centre: The Lava Centre is an interactive, high-tech educational exhibition depicting volcanic activity, earthquakes and the creation of Iceland. Exhibition and Cinema. Dinner on your own and overnight at your hotel (Breakfast)

Day 4: Friday April 18, 2024 – Iceland: Breakfast at the hotel. If you only take one guided tour while you are in Iceland, then it has to be the Golden Circle. Today we make our way back to Reykjavík via the Golden Circle. Combining natural and historical wonders, you’ll experience Iceland‘s landmark attractions in one incredible day: the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall, the spouting hot springs of Geysir, and Þingvellir national park, site of the Viking parliament and over 1000 years of history. Lunch is on own today at the Geysir area. In the afternoon, visit the Friðheimar Greenhouses for an out of the ordinary “from the stem to the table” experience in the Icelandic countryside. Specializing in tomato cultivation, the greenhouses at Friðheimar are increasing diversity in the local tomato market. Since starting out in 1995, these family run greenhouses have introduced Plum tomatoes, Flavorino cocktail tomatoes and Piccolo tomatoes on a year-round basis in Iceland. On this tomato-based tour, visitors gain insight into the processes of Icelandic greenhouse horticulture. With a short and informative talk on the subject, you'll learn about how this farm grows vegetables in cold climates by creating warm geothermal Mediterranean conditions, all year round – even through the long dark winter. Each visit includes a short informal tour and interactive discussion showcasing the growing methods used at Friðheimar which are eco-friendly using green energy, pure water and biological pest controls. Visitors with an interest in gardening and horticulture are sure to be delighted by this trip as is anyone who just happens to love a great tomato! And just to note – Icelandic Cucumbers have also been cultivated at Friðheimar since 2011 and they are showcased throughout the experience. Finally, get up close and personal to meet the team of Friðheimar horses in the warm and bright stables. Alongside a visit with these friendly creatures and their caretakers, there will be photo opportunities and a demonstration of the famed 5 gaits, unique to the Icelandic Horse. (Breakfast)

Day 5: Saturday April 19, 2024 – Day at Leisure – Optional Blue Lagoon Experience: After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy exploring Reykjavík at leisure, or Escape to the epitome of relaxation and natural wonder with our optional journey to the world-famous Blue Lagoon, nestled in the heart of Iceland's breathtaking landscape. This geothermal oasis offers respite from Reykjavík's hustle and bustle. Prepare to be entranced by the ethereal beauty surrounding you. The Blue Lagoon is a sparkling azure pool of geothermal water, set against surreal lava fields. The contrast between the vibrant blue waters and the stark volcanic terrain is utterly mesmerizing. Upon arrival, surrender to the lagoon's waters, ranging from comfortably warm to luxuriously hot. The mineral-rich waters are renowned for their therapeutic properties, offering a rejuvenating experience for body and soul. As you float in the milky-blue waters, absorb the surreal surroundings—the rising steam, rugged lava rocks, and ever-changing Icelandic skies transport you to another world where daily stresses vanish. For the adventurous, indulge in the famed silica mud mask, known for its skin-reviving effects. Apply the silky paste and join others who swear by its transformation.
